THE SITUATION

Marine Conservation is important to sustain and protect ecosystems and vulnerable marine species in our oceans and our seas. It is our responsibility to start focusing on limiting human impact, restoring damaged ecosystems and preserving our precious marine life. Scientists have shown through research and documenting marine wildlife that there have been disappearances of species as large as whale sized sea cows to eel grass the size of a fingernail. An entire extinction of species like these and many others is only the beginning of a path of destruction we have left that is dramatically impacting our ecosystem and the marine life. Due to problems like over fishing, poaching, lack of understanding of the consequences of our actions, certain marine life is facing extinction and the rates that habitats are being threatened are increasing rapidly. What will future generations say when they learn that their ancestors destroyed what can never be replaced in our oceans and seas?

The volunteer programs we offer will provide you with an opportunity to get involved with different projects that are making a difference in marine conservation and wildlife conservation. Our programs accomplish this by including local fisherman and the community in educational programs to teach them about the different marine species and the essential need for conservation. These programs also help to assist larger government funded organizations with data collection, administration, research, and other activities. As a volunteer, you get the opportunity to help out with these efforts as much as possible during your stay. By volunteering, it provides you with a unique chance to gain a strong understanding of what is involved in Marine Conservation efforts. Volunteering and continuing to educate the local communities will help to ensure that marine life will continue to thrive and exist in our oceans.
